    Persevering for the Team
What does it mean to persevere?  The writer uses the imagery of the track and field stadium – the crowd is on their feet, cheering for their athlete - At the most difficult point in the race, the great crowd of witnesses is going wild in the stands! The idea is that the runners are motivated to persevere, to not give up, to not grow weary/lose heart, but find the strength to continue … cheering them on…the witnesses are proof of the fact that it can be done!
The writer says, when you are in the middle of the toughest fight of your life, remember Jesus, focus on Jesus, who gave us the example of what it means to endure, to not grow weary, become discouraged or give up…but to finish the race that God has given you!
